A group of coworkers in Kentucky mourns the loss of a seemingly beloved creature living in their workplace: a cockroach. The poor critter was found dead in a hallway, where the employees banded together to create a scared shrine for the roach, so it could likely pass with ease into the great beyond. That said, one of the coworkers, who goes by Jcembree on Reddit, found the shrine so intriguing they had to share it on r/pics.
The shrine contains a mishmash of items, like whimsical notes, decorations, and even a makeshift cross. Again, this was all built right in a hallway, not a corner of an office or janitor’s closet. Clearly, these coworkers wanted everyone to witness the roach’s passing and perhaps pay respects to it as they passed by. Jcembree didn’t provide any additional context beyond the photo in the post, but plenty of Redditors found the picture says enough.
The Dead Kentucky Workplace Roach Found Overwhelming Support on Reddit
“I live for this kind of stupidity,” relished a commenter. “Same here. It is what I miss most about my boring office job was that I had time to devote to starting weird little office trends like these,” remarked another. “Dang that’s clever. I love stuff like this!” exclaimed a third. “Thoughts and prayers,” wrote a fourth.
A few others shared their humorous thoughts, but there’s not much else to say beyond RIP Kentucky cockroach. Jokes aside, dozens of Redditors upvoted Jcembree’s post, as it’s certainly an uplifting one with all the political and ragebait-inducing content in the tension-filled modern day. From employees expressing racism toward customers to strangers threatening each other out of malice, many would feel it’s nice to see workers coming together to do something rather pointless and unnecessary for the sake of smiles and laughs.
While Jcembree had to argue whether MAGA was involved in job losses in Winchester several posts prior, the shrine of the rockroach is a post that ironically spreads positivity, even through death.
