Just a few more feet. That’s all many viewers say it would have taken. A Ring camera has drawn attention online after appearing to show a delivery driver leaving a package in the rain, even though a covered porch sat just steps from the front door, prompting a lively debate online.
The video, posted to Reddit’s r/mildlyinfuriating, appears to show a delivery driver walking up the garden path before placing a large package just a few feet from the covered porch, despite the rain falling. The driver then takes a delivery photo and quickly heads back to their vehicle, leaving the package exposed to the wet weather.
Adding further context in the Reddit post, the homeowner explained that their delivery instructions have read, “please put package inside glass door in breezeway,” for years. Despite that, they claimed the driver left the package out in the rain. The OP added in the comments that the delivery contained a birthday present for their son, whose birthday is next weekend.
Social Media Reactions
The clip quickly sparked discussion in the comments, with viewers divided over whether the driver had been careless or was simply following company policy.
Before weighing in on the incident itself, some commenters admitted they had never heard the term “breezeway.” One person wrote, “FWIW, a lot of people do not know what a breezeway is,” while another added, “I just had to google what a breezeway was.”
Others felt the driver should have made the extra effort to leave the package under cover. One commenter wrote, “This is very infuriating. I have a covered porch and they’ll put this on the step that isn’t covered…just an extra 2ft and it would be fine,” while another simply remarked, “That seems intentional.”
Not everyone blamed the delivery driver, however. One Reddit user argued, “This sub is basically ‘lazy people whine about their overworked and underpaid servants.'” Another shared a similar experience, writing, “For what it’s worth OP, an Amazon person left my package outside and we had a rainstorm later that day… the contents weren’t even wet at all… as far as I know they go out of their way to NOT touch your stuff for liability reasons, like opening doors and gates.”
Responding to that comment, the original poster said, “9 out of 10 times, they do leave it in the breezeway, thank goodness 🙌🏻🙌🏻 but I’m definitely hoping the items are okay! It’s for my son’s birthday party next weekend 😭😭.”
Whether the driver made a careless mistake or simply followed standard practice, the Ring camera footage has left plenty of viewers debating what they would have done differently.
