California Woman Suffers Road Rage After Getting Honked At: ‘I Don’t Feel Safe’

That was the last straw…

You never know what someone else is going through, or what might push them over the edge. That seems to have been the case in a California road rage incident when a woman went off on someone for simply honking at her once.

To be fair, the clip begins when the woman is already extremely agitated. It’s possible that the person filming is being dishonest about what happened before the woman became so upset. That said, the OP alleges that they honked just once, and that this small action sent the woman into an aggressive rant.

According to people on Reddit, the woman’s meltdown was so bad that the negative energy seeped through online. After watching the clip, one person wrote, “Officer, I didn’t feel safe.” Another echoed, “I cannot imagine being so emotionally unintelligent that someone beeping upsets you enough to spiral into completely [expletive] up your day.“

Others chose to write that woman off as someone spiraling and reserved their judgment for the person filming and how they handled the situation. One person assessed, “So many good options here, not one of them includes rolling down your window and waiting there for her.” Someone else advised, “There comes a time when you just roll up the window and listen to anything but on the radio. And that time was 10 seconds in.” A third person chimed in, “I don’t understand why camlady engages with this person. I wouldn’t give this person my time or patience. Just go around them.“

California Citizens React

Many people suggested the OP should have messed with the woman, but within the safety of a locked car while the windows were rolled up. Ideas such as honking every time she spoke, or as she walked away, filled the comments section. That said, those suggestions are ill-advised, as they could make an already tense situation turn violent.

Assuming the person filming was being truthful about what occurred, it does seem the woman severely overreacted. That said, as mentioned, it’s impossible to know what she may be going through in her own life.

For the sake of safety, it’s best not to engage with individuals having any form of breakdown. Instead, protect one’s personal space and refuse to engage. As this Redditor put it, “Just a quick reminder that you don’t have to show up to every fight you are invited to! Protect your peace, people.“
