TN State Rep. Justin J. Pearson posted on X thanking Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Summer Lee for joining a Get Out the Vote rally in Memphis as early voting began in Tennessee’s primary. The post, which includes video from the event and promotes his congressional campaign, has drawn significant online attention. Commenters responded with a mix of support and sharp criticism, focusing on Pearson’s record and the involvement of the progressive lawmakers.

We ARE the people! I’m running for U.S. Congress for all of us.

Thank you @AOC @AyannaPressley @SummerForPA for rallying to Get Out the Vote in Memphis last night!

In the clip, Pearson stands at a podium and addresses a crowd of supporters at an indoor event. He gestures energetically while declaring, “This moment is all that we have got, and the people we have been looking for are right here in this room. You know they forgot something when they drew those maps. They forgot that the Constitution doesn’t start with ‘we the politicians.’ It doesn’t start with ‘we the billionaires.’ It starts with the three most important words ever written in our founding documents: ‘We the People.’”

He continues, “We are going to ensure that one job is enough so that parents can spend time with their children rather than spending 60 and 70 hours a week working just to keep the lights on. We the People. The people are going to defend our schools and give teachers a raise. Finally, we are going to fight for working-class people to have an opportunity to own their homes in this country and stop private equity from buying up our neighborhoods. We the People,” as supporters in blue shirts cheer and raise “HEALTHCARE FOR ALL” and “JUSTIN J. PEARSON U.S. CONGRESS” signs behind him.

The video shows the rally atmosphere and Pearson speaking but does not include audio of specific remarks beyond the visible energy of the event.

How Commenters Reacted to the Tennessee Campaign Rally Clip

Many commenters expressed strong opposition to Pearson’s campaign and the event, with one writing “Socialist commies that want to seize your homes & land to give to illegal criminals.”

Another stated “Fraudsters n Fakesters! A zero C is the fakest of them all. Vote these morons out.”

Several focused on personal characterizations, such as references to “fake Malcolm X,” while others warned “We can not allow you to win, racism will not win” and “If AOC supports you we know you are a threat to our country.”

Additional replies asserted “Tennessee deserves better” and described him as “Another rabid communist bent on disarming the law-abiding citizens.”
