A divided panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Washington D.C. Circuit rejected former President Joe Biden’s bid to block release of roughly 70 hours of audio recordings and transcripts from interviews he gave memoir ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer before his 2020 campaign, in a 2-1 ruling late Monday, the recordings stem from special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents, and congressional Republicans have sought the material for more than a year. Republicans took to social media to celebrate what is sure to be some interesting revelations.

In a post shared to X, as reported by TMZ, conservative voices across Washington, D.C. celebrated the ruling, which has the potential to expose Biden and his run as president in a big way. U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich ruled in June that the public interest in the recordings outweighed Biden’s privacy interest. Biden appealed, with his attorneys arguing the interviews were candid, personal conversations meant to remain private. The appeals panel upheld Friedrich’s ruling, and the court suspended its decision until Aug. 3 to give Biden time to pursue a further appeal.

The ruling split the panel. The majority wrote that “any remaining incursion on personal privacy from disclosure of the now-redacted materials likely does not outweigh the public interest in disclosure,” per ABC News. Judge Florence Pan, a Biden appointee, dissented, finding Biden had shown a “substantial privacy interest” in keeping the material sealed, according to Click2Houston/AP. These are some of the thoughts shared by D.C Republicans who took to social media after the ruling.

“He was found to be mentally unfit to stand trial for his years of stealing classified files dating as far back to when he was a senator WHILE HE WAS PRESIDENT AND ALLEGEDLY RUNNING THE COUNTRY.”

“Keep up the great work TRUMP we will never get tired of winning”

“Democrats will never admit he was incompetent with dementia because everything he signed would be null and void due to him not being of sound mind when he signed it.”

Former President Biden has until August 3 to decide whether to seek a further appeal to the Washington, D.C. Court of Appeals before the redacted recordings and transcripts are released.
