A mixed-race woman in Baltimore, Maryland, tried to convince her children that she was Black just as much as they were, despite the differences in skin tone. The kids wouldn’t have any of it, and chose to roast their mom instead, prompting hilarious responses and even heated debates online.

I’m more whiter I guess 😭😭😂😂😂

TikTok user megthee_stylist, also known as Megg, shared the hilarious interaction online. As her username implies, she is a hairstylist who often shares her work with her 186,000 followers. This time around, she chose to upload a much more family-oriented clip, which quickly became one of her biggest ever. It garnered 5.1 million views, 808,700 likes, and more than 21,700 comments.

The Maryland woman started recording right in the middle of the skin tone dispute. She, saying she is mixed, claimed that everyone inside the car was Black and White. Her children, however, wouldn’t tolerate such a statement, telling her, “No you’re not,” “Not you,” and “You’re just white.”

Megg, unwilling to let herself be bullied by her kids’ arguments, chose to explain why she was, in fact, correct in her assessment.

“It’s not about the color of your skin. That’s not what it has to do with. It has to do with your parents,” she said. “Granddad is Black, grandma is White. They had me. So they came together and had me. It doesn’t matter how I came out looking. But that means I am mixed with a Black culture and a White culture.”

Relentless Kids

Megg would continue explaining how she is a mixed woman, and that it’s not about “coloring on the paper” and how she physically looks, but rather who your parents are and “where you came from.”

And while she was 100%, her son would keep throwing funny digs at her mother. He said, “So, you’re not only White, but you are Black and White. But, are you more like Whiter?“

The Maryland woman, finding her son hilarious, smiled and placed her hand on her forehead. She said that she was equal, but that’s just how she looks. Her son clapped back, “It looks like you’re more Whiter,” and Megg said, “Okay,” putting an end to the interaction.

Maryland Citizens React

The video sparked multiple responses, mostly from viewers who found Megg’s son amusing. One wrote, “Dang mixed on mixed discrimination.” Another one commented, “Your kids were like, ‘White lady, please.’“

Others, meanwhile, agreed with Megg’s children. One commented, “I’m sorry, but race is exactly about the color of your skin.” Another one added, “They know ball, you White.” These comments were met with pushback, though, prompting debates about what it means to be mixed-race, with many users agreeing with Megg.

In the end, Megg took the interaction with a sense of humor. A follow-up clip shows her joining the “Netflix Documentary” trend, hers being on “mixed people who had to explain their race their whole life.”
