19-Year-Old DoorDash Driver Delivers Order to Wrong Indiana House, Homeowners Refuse to Give It Back: ‘What a Bunch of Childish, Immature Adults’

Snacks sparked a standoff

Food delivery mix-ups are an unfortunate part of online ordering. With DoorDash drivers completing more than 3 million deliveries every day across the U.S., mistakes such as orders being dropped off at the wrong address can occasionally happen.

One such mistake recently sparked a heated confrontation at a home in Carmel, Indiana, where a DoorDash driver says he accidentally delivered an order to the wrong address. However, the situation quickly escalated after the homeowner allegedly refused to return the food.

A 9-year-old DoorDash driver delivers to the WRONG house in Carmel, Indiana… and the homeowners straight-up refuse to give the food back.

A viral video shows the driver pleading with the homeowner to hand back the order, explaining that he had made an honest mistake and that losing the food could cost him money.

“I just need my food back,” the driver says in the clip. He also claims he is 19 years old and working to earn money for college, repeatedly asking the homeowner to return the order.

The homeowner refuses, telling the driver to leave the property and insisting that the mistake was his responsibility. The homeowner also threatens to call the police if the driver does not leave.

As the argument continues, the driver becomes increasingly frustrated. He accuses the homeowner of keeping food that was never ordered and questions why someone living in a large home would refuse to return it.

At one point, the driver threatens to damage the homeowner’s property if he does not get the order back.

The exchange ends with both men hurling insults at each other, while the homeowner says police have been called. The video ends before showing whether officers arrived or how the situation was resolved.

Internet Reacts to Indiana DoorDash Dispute

The comments section split into a few camps, with plenty of people siding against the homeowners. “What a bunch of childish, immature adults keeping food that they know wasn’t theirs,” one commenter wrote. Another labeled the situation a lost cause for basic decency: “The homeowner is a POS.”

A third took a similar position, arguing simple honesty should have settled it: “I would have not taken the food if I didn’t order it. He should have given the food back.”

Not every commenter blamed the homeowners, though. Some pointed the finger back at the driver instead.

“Doordash driver is a jerk. He is the one who delivered to the wrong house and he is trying to retrieve food that have probably already been tampered with,” one person argued.

A separate commenter raised a food-safety angle, saying they wouldn’t want the order back under those circumstances anyway: “That’s a health hazard and I wouldn’t want food that other people have touched like that anyways. I’d have to get another order made.”

It is unclear whether the Indiana customer eventually received a replacement order or if either party faced legal consequences. Neither DoorDash nor the people involved have publicly commented on the incident.
