Dating a stranger is always a risky prospect, because the worst-case scenario is either they turn out to be a serial killer or they harvest your kidney after a few drinks. For women, the risks are even higher, which is why the internet is now concerned for one particular Texas woman’s safety. She revealed in her TikTok video that her boyfriend joked about murdering her in an unknown hiking spot during one of their dates.
TikTok user Amber aka ambergerss from Dallas, Texas, is the woman in question, and earlier this week, she posted a clip on her TikTok account detailing what happened during an earlier date with a man whom she’s currently in a relationship with. Apparently, Amber agreed to have an exercise date in an unknown hiking spot where the man kept leaving her behind during prolonged jogs.
After she caught up with him in a tunnel, the man can be heard saying, “This is where I was gonna kill you.” However, Amber’s date followed it up with, “OMG did you record that? I was just kidding” after seeing that Amber was filming the whole interaction with her phone. Amber also captioned on the video that it was, “The moment where I wasn’t sure I’d see my parents again,” though she seemed to be convinced that her date wasn’t serious with the remarks. “He was just joking, lighten up,” writes Amber.
As for the status of the relationship, it appears Amber is still dating the man, seemingly undeterred by his dark humor. Amber’s video has blown up and now has millions of views across multiple social media platforms. Most of the comments were warning her that she needs to be more careful with some even advising her to break up with him.
People online feel she’s not safe
Some people had to point out some signs that worried them further, such as, “Notice how he said he was joking when you was aware you were recording,” while others recalled similar experiences, “the boyfriend I had that loved to joke about killing me…. did in fact try to kill me.” One commenter even made it about Amber’s race with a rant, “Joke. When blk ppl [black people] are literally dying.”
Others seriously warned Amber, writing, “He took you to a location that you don’t know, showed that he can outlast you while running AND threatened to kill you? You need to get pepper gel spray and make a police report. He’s making a plan to get you.” The backlash against Amber’s boyfriend apparently got so bad, she had to post several follow-up videos clarifying that his joke about killing her was, well, just a joke.
Amber clarified in follow-up captions that “It wasn’t our first hike, I’m ok. He’s also one of the kindest man I’ve ever met.” Despite the TikTok user’s claims, it appears others are simply not convinced or would’ve left any relationship partner who joked about murdering them in unknown and hidden locations. At the time of writing, however, it appears Amber is fine and happy with her lovelife.
