A Florida woman is facing backlash online after posting a video about preparing a playlist for a “kirkaversary party” marking one year since Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
The woman shared the video with the caption, “Getting my playlist of songs that remind me of Charlie ready for the kirkaversary party.” Some viewers interpreted the post as celebrating or mocking Kirk’s death.
“Kirkaversary,” a combination of Kirk’s name and “anniversary,” has appeared in online posts marking the anniversary of his death, including memes and videos mocking the conservative activist and the circumstances of his assassination.
In addition to the caption, the woman’s accompanying video was also viewed as controversial. In the footage, she danced and lip-synced to a song, which some viewers interpreted as celebrating Kirk’s death on its anniversary.
The video drew even more criticism when the woman made a gun-like gesture with her hand toward her neck while dancing. Some viewers interpreted the gesture as a reference to the way Kirk was killed, though the woman does not explicitly explain its meaning in the clip.
As the video spread, some accounts also appeared to share personal information they claimed belonged to the woman. The Nerd Stash has not independently verified that information and is not reproducing it.
The video appeared around the first anniversary of Kirk’s assassination. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
The anniversary brought both memorials and protests. Thousands gathered at Utah Valley University for a Turning Point USA memorial, while other social media posts drew backlash for mocking Kirk’s death or reenacting aspects of the shooting.
Viewers Slam “Kirkaversary” Video
The video quickly drew criticism from viewers who interpreted the playlist, dancing, and hand gesture as mocking Kirk’s assassination. “Celebrating the murder of any man is evil…,” one person wrote.
Another viewer questioned why someone would record and publicly share a video appearing to make light of a killing, calling the behavior “utterly sociopathic.”
Others focused specifically on the gesture in the video, arguing that joking about the circumstances of Kirk’s assassination crossed a line even for people who strongly disagreed with his politics.
Not everyone discussing the anniversary viewed Kirk positively, however. His death and legacy continue to generate sharply divided reactions online, with memorials occurring alongside memes and posts mocking the slain conservative activist.
The woman has drawn attention during an anniversary already marked by a sharp contrast between public memorials for Kirk and social media posts mocking his assassination.
Her “kirkaversary party” video landed firmly in the latter category for many viewers. While the clip doesn’t explain what she meant by every gesture, critics had little trouble interpreting the playlist, caption, and imagery, and they made their objections clear in the replies.
