A video from Passaic, New Jersey, is getting a lot of attention online after showing federal agents pinning a man to the ground and handcuffing him during an immigration enforcement operation. The clip has sparked debate, with people disagreeing over what led to the confrontation.

ICE detain U.S. citizen—3 agents grab him & throw him to the ground.

He was just filming on his phone—while standing on public sidewalk.

Brandon is well known community observer—and target of local agents.

The video, shared on X by user @LongTimeHistory, shows several ICE agents wearing tactical gear restraining a man in a black shirt on the lawn of a home on July 23, 2026.

The agents hold him face-down, handcuff him, and later escort him to a vehicle as bystanders record the incident. Text shown in the video claims the man repeatedly said he was a U.S. citizen. The X account identified the man as Brandon.

According to a post on Reddit’s r/UnderReportedNews, the man had been questioning ICE agents about why they were detaining one of his neighbors before the video started.

Spanish-language news outlet Univision reported that Brandon’s family said he is a U.S. citizen and that he was released a few hours after being taken into custody. The report also quoted a woman who said her 4-year-old son witnessed the arrest from a nearby car. She claimed that five agents restrained Brandon and that his arm was nearly dislocated during the arrest.

Univision also reported that community group Cosecha said ICE had made at least 30 arrests in Passaic, New Jersey, during the previous week. The report added that a community patrol volunteer, Carlos Nieto, also tried to intervene during the operation.

Internet Reacts to New Jersey ICE Detention

The video prompted a wide range of reactions on X. One commenter wrote, “When is Congress gonna act. This is just disgusting.” Another argued that appearance factors into who ICE targets, writing, “if you look like that, stay indoors. cuz to ICE youre a big bag of money they gotta wrestle into their car. they do not care if youre a citizen. youre money to them plain and simple. That is the current state of America as sad as it is.”

Not every response was sympathetic. A third commenter took the opposite view: “If he’s a known agitator interfering with arresting illegal aliens, then he gets what he gets.” A fourth commenter raised questions about accountability and evidence: “These agents don’t have bodycams to show the judge he was obstructing. However, the onlookers have video recordings to show he was not. It’s the very reason why they can never have a successful conviction. The sad part is taxpayers will have to cover the lawsuit he’ll file!”

A fifth speculated about the broader picture: “What’s really going to be wild is once the Trump admin is out and rule of law is restored, it will be revealed just how many U.S. citizens were not just falsely detained/arrested by ICE, but U.S. citizens who actually got put on a plane and deported to a different country.”
