Teams at Bioware are hard at work on their next big open world RPG Anthem, but they haven’t left their two most famous franchises in the dust. Dragon Age and Mass Effect fans rejoice! Developer Casey Hudson says both games are being developed.
In Bioware’s Mid-Summer Update, Hudson hinted somewhere in the world, secret teams are working to bring fans more Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
And yes – we hear loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll really like – we’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while…”
Along with this news, Hudson mentioned the teams are adding new content for Star Wars: The Old Republic later this year.
Bioware’s focus for the moment is Anthem, but a hint of information about both other games is good news to fans. Dragon Age: Origins released in 2009, followed two years later by Dragon Age II. The third installment and last of the series to release was Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2014. Bioware hired writer Alexis Kennedy for the untitled Dragon Age last year, but little is known about the project.
The Mass Effect series launched in 2007, followed by its sequel in 2010. Mass Effect 3 released in 2012, but was not well received by fans of the series. Mass Effect: Adromeda was the final game to be released in 2017. The series was put on hold last year.
Both franchises branched off into comics and books, but fans have been begging for new games and content.
Fans may not learn anymore about the secret projects until Anthem is released February 22, 2019.
Hudson says Bioware is releasing more information on Anthem at PAX West August 31 – September 3, 2018. No word on if new information regarding Dragon Age or Mass Effect will be released.
