An influencer in New York City, New York, accused the Plaza Hotel of not allowing her to use the restroom, even though she was dining at the luxury establishment. Eventually, she entered the restroom, only to be shocked by what she found.
Influencer Amira, whose username is amiramarie.xo, took to TikTok to bash The Plaza over her negative experience at the Central Park hotel. She is a beauty, fashion, and travel content creator who often shares her impressions on a variety of products. This time around, the clip attached above went viral, garnering 552,800 views, 89,300 likes, and more than 1,700 comments.
The New York woman detailed that trouble started as soon as they arrived at the hotel. No hostess was in sight at the hotel’s restaurant, so after placing their bags at a table, she went to the restroom. Or at least she tried: a man soon ran up to her and told her she couldn’t use it.
“It’s not available to the public,” the man said, according to Amira. “You can only use the bathroom if you’re staying at the hotel or if you’re dining in our hotel.”
Filthy Restroom
After explaining that she was, in fact, dining at the hotel, he insisted on getting the hostess. She eventually arrived, and she was finally able to use the restroom. What she encountered next horrified her: there were missing and broken tiles, dirty grout lines, no soup, no toilet paper, and what appeared to be a dehumidifier, which others said was actually an air purifier.
“That’s disgusting,” Amira said.
Amira and her friends spoke with management and shared the pictures she later showed online. They were told housekeeping was to be called, but the New York woman corrected them, saying that it was actually a maintenance issue.

The video sparked multiple responses, mainly from viewers who were as shocked as Amira. One said, “I always say a bathroom tells you everything……even in someone’s house.” Another one commented, “I have a reservation to stay for next week. Let me change to another hotel. Yuck.”
Other viewers had issues with how the hotel employee refused her access to the bathroom in the first place. One wrote, “Classic racism.” Another one added, “They treat you like criminals, and their bathrooms are atrocious! I’m so sorry.”
Amira also shared her disappointment at how things turned out at The Plaza, saying she was very excited to eat at the hotel. She added, “I was filming content for you guys [her followers] because I wanted to show you guys my experience. I will not be going back.”
