California Governor Gavin Newsom remains a controversial individual, especially for a certain group of people, particularly MAGA supporters. It appears they’re not letting off the Governor lightly as the build-up to the midterm elections intensifies, because a group of MAGA supporters trooped in front of Newsom’s mansion in California, where they went viral for performing a loud “dance protest.”
TikTok user timmytrump530 shared a clip of the aforementioned viral incident, which took place over the weekend in Gavin Newsom’s $3.7 million residence in Fair Oaks, California. In the video, you can see a group of MAGA supporters visibly belonging to older generations, some of whom are wearing red shirts and the iconic red cap, dancing to YMCA right in front of “Newcsums mansion,” where they also parked their pickup trucks and SUVs.
It’s not clear what particular issue the MAGA supporters were protesting about in front of Newsom’s house, but over the years, the MAGA movement has viewed him as a primary symbol of progressive policies, high taxes, and what they consider “coastal elitism.” They also heavily oppose his direct political and legal clashes with President Donald Trump.
As for the rather festive mood of the “protest,” the TikTok user has also captioned the video, “It’s not always about the fight…. yes it is!!!! But we have fun too!” Explaining their choice to perform the “Trump Dance” in front of Newsom’s property. In the past, Newsom has vocally criticized Trump several times. Their ongoing public feud involves frequent clashes over federal policies, environmental rules, immigration, and democratic governance.
People online are mocking the MAGA supporters
Sadly for the TikTok user, it appears MAGA’s political stunt at Gavin Newsom’s house has drawn controversy, with many commenters making fun of their protest. Some TikTok commenters even joked that “this cult is slowly dying” and “The cult is slowly dying out,” possibly referring to the apparent age of the protesters, where not much youth or members of the younger generations can be seen
Some, however, defended the protest, even going as far as comparing it to political gatherings from the opposing spectrum, “THIS is a peaceful protest. Democrats can learn from this.” Such comments have ignited a heated debate, where one person even replied, “J6,” referring to the January 6 Capitol Attack by Trump supporters back in 2020.
In any case, it appears at least half of the reactions to the video consist of people convinced that MAGA is facing turmoil, with comments such as, “Watching the cult fall apart like this is so satisfying.” It’s no secret that there have already been several former MAGA movement politicians and even influencers announcing their change of heart and even burning their MAGA hats.
