Today has been a big day for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The new Onimusha: Way of the Sword trailer focuses on more Genma-slaying action, but also gives us a glimpse of some of the places we will be visiting once the game launches later this year. The location we got to see in this clip was none other than the Yasui Konpiragu Shrine from Kyoto, which, as Capcom says, is just one of the many locations based on real-world landmarks.
What’s interesting about the versions of these locations is how Capcom is adapting them to the game’s lore. According to the trailer’s information, this place, known to grant wishes, is now invaded by a Genma called Rasho-gan, who is twisting the minds of pilgrims to take body parts for himself.
Naturally, you’ll be able to face this colossal creature when the game goes live, and by the looks of it, the fight is going to be a tough one.
For those who have been looking forward to more information about Onimusha: Way of the Sword, previews from different outlets went live today. Among the many praises, the ones pertaining to the game’s combat system stand out, saying it is one of the best they have ever experienced. Some have even claimed it is a clear GOTY contender so far, while others say it is punishing, yet extremely engaging.
With all of this in mind, players are excited to finally dive into a new Onimusha installment, which is something many fans have been waiting for. Fortunately, the wait is almost over, as we’re only a couple of weeks away from wielding the Oni Gauntlet.
