Two friends biked many miles so that they could see the Alamo in Texas. Happy with their accomplishments, they decided to get a photograph in front of the Alamo as evidence of their success. However, an unhappy Karen decided to have a word with them about their apparent disrespect, taking the joy out of their moment.
Mims (@mimsonthamove) bikes many miles across the U.S. and records his travels on his TikTok. Recently, he biked 40 miles with a friend to see the Alamo. They arrived, covered in sweat and out of breath, but they made it! To document their success, Mims asks a woman if she can take a photograph of them with their bikes in front of the Alamo as “proof” that they made it. She happily agrees to do so, with her friend standing beside her the entire time.
As the woman is taking a photograph of them, Mims’ friend puts his bike in the air over his head. It’s at this point that the woman’s friend speaks up. She stops her friend from taking the picture by lightly touching her shoulder. Then, she walks up to Mims and his friend. The Karen woman shouts, “I can’t allow that. Please have them on the ground. This is a battle site where people died.” Mims ends the video there but asks his audience, “Is holding a bike above your head disrespectful?”
The lady was wearing an official badge around her neck, and it’s possible that she was working at the Alamo site as a guide of some kind. Other commenters even pointed out that they recognized the woman from other videos. As one stated, “This is not the first video I’ve seen of her being rude to someone at the Alamo. HR needs to have a sit down with this lady.”
Other commenters came to support Mims and his friend, agreeing that they were not in the wrong. As one commenter pointed out, “’This is where people died’ – Yeah, you mean the racists who wanted Texas independence bc Mexico was abolishing slavery? I guess we should MONETIZE IT INSTEAD?!? Like wth.” Another commenter quipped, “Mind you, the Alamo is downtown across from Ripley’s Believe It or Not.” Commenters continue to share their opinions, joke about the situation, and show support for Mims and his friend.
