A goose in Richmond, Texas, saved the day by alerting its family to a barn fire. In the video, the heroic Goosey can be seen pacing in front of the barn, urgently “honking over and over until [they] finally went to see what all the commotion was about.”
Goosey is owned by Cheslea Gerber and her husband, Bert. He is only four months old, and already saving the day. Thanks to his desperate honks, Bert was “able to put it out before it became something truly devastating.” When sharing the story, the Texas woman explains, “We were fortunate to get all the flames out, and everyone is safe.” She explains that they knew something wasn’t right because he never honks in the middle of the night. So at 1 a.m., they went to see what was going on, which “proved that paying attention to your animals can matter more than you ever imagine.”
The Texas woman states that they are grateful “for a barn that’s still standing, for a flock that’s safe, and for one very good goose.” Within an hour of posting on ABC7Chicago’s TikTok page, the video has reached over 11,000 views and nearly 1,000 likes. Goosey’s actions saved a flock of chickens and turkeys. None of the animals were harmed in the fire, and the damage was minimal. While Chelsea’s no expert, “It appears to have been electrical and started inside the wall.”
Everyone Is Praising The Texas Goose
The young goose is receiving a lot of praise online for his quick actions. One commenter says, “That’s gotta be the bravest goose I’ve ever seen.” Another says, “The way that little goose screamed brought tears to my eyes balls!” Meanwhile, several in the comments believe he deserves all the love and treats he can get. One suggests, “He deserves a lifetime pass to swim in the pool.”
Others are calling the Texas goose the “best little alarm system ever.” Another says, “[The goose is] more alert than my little brother.” Another commenter makes a cheeky comment about geese’s stereotypical aggressive behavior. They say, “This one might have done a good deed, but his cousin tried to take me down the other week.” However, many are concerned about whether Goosey and his fellow barn animals are okay after such a scare.
Chelsea posted a follow-up video on her TikTok, The Fuster Cluck, allowing everyone to see that Goosey is perfectly fine. She also shows the fire damage and introduces all of his friends, including Jonathan the turkey, whom he saved with his heroic honking.
