Arizona mom Britnee Kellogg blasted a Karen for critiquing how she makes her autistic son breakfast. The woman left a comment on a TikTok video, reading, “Being on the spectrum does NOT mean he can’t make a bowl of cereal or scramble eggs…” The video of her response has over 518,000 views, over 68,000 likes, and nearly 4,000 comments.
Kellogg is a country singer who posts a mix of her experiences as a mom and calling out people in her comments. She posted the TikTok video calling out what she took issue with in the comment. The Arizona mom states, “What I really needed was you, stranger on the internet, to explain autism to me through breakfast food.” She explains that being on the spectrum comes with different areas of capability. In the video, she states that she missed the part where it states an autistic child can pour cereal or operate a frying pan. Kellogg explains, “I don’t underestimate my son. I understand him.” This doesn’t mean she doesn’t have confidence in his independence.
She argues, “Sometimes it means knowing when to push them, when to teach them, and when to just make them some [expletive] eggs.” Kellogg calls out the woman by going to her TikTok page. She notes that the woman has “just be happy” as a motto on her page. This is something she blasts: “Nothing says ‘just be happy’ like wandering into another mom’s comment section to critique how she parents her autistic child.” She ends the video by telling the woman that “being on social media does not mean [she] has to comment every thought that comes into [her] head.”
Fellow Mothers Back Arizona Mom Up
The Arizona mom’s fellow mothers back her up in the comments. One says, “Empathy is what we all need more of, not apathy.” One mother even states, “This video made my day. Clap right back at her. Love it!” Another commenter states that she makes her adult son breakfast when he visits. She explains, “To me it’s a privilege. Egg on Sista.”
Meanwhile, some share their own experiences as moms of autistic children. One states that if she left her nonverbal seven-year-old “near the kitchen, he’ll burn the [expletive] house down.” Another calls out that it is a spectrum, stating her son is in his second year of a degree: “However, has only recently learned how not to flood the bathroom when he is taking a bath.” However, one commenter simply says, “Special needs moms are loving this!”
