Getting called for an emergency during work is anxiety-inducing enough, but one Florida employee probably wasn’t ready for what she saw at her work’s parking garage. Her friend, who goes by Sippyside on Reddit, shared a harrowing scene of a vehicle on r/Wellthatsucks with its back completely melted. “The car next to hers had his engine start on fire. They’re okay, but my heart goes out to both of them,” they wrote in earnest.
While Sippyside didn’t mention it in their post, other eyewitnesses confirmed that the parking garage where this happened was the employee parking garage for Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. According to the alleged owner of the car that started the fire, the issue was accidental and “due to wires/electrical issues in the car due to the possible heat.”
The Woman’s Insurance Reportedly Wouldn’t Be Covering All of the Damages
“I apologize for inconveniencing anyone mid-shift while my car decided to spontaneously combust,” wrote the owner. Unfortunately for Sippyside’s friend and victim of this spontaneous combustion, insurance is only covering a part of the damage. “Sadly, if she wants the same car, she has to pay about $8k out of pocket,” OP clarified. This is definitely not the news many Redditors asking whether she was covered would want to hear.
“Idk if Universal is going to help her out with this situation,” added another commenter claiming to be a friend of the story’s victim. “Imagine stepping out on break just to find your car looking like a melted candle. I’d turn around and clock out for the year,” remarked a third Redditor.
No injuries were reported by anyone, thankfully. Still, the damage to the cars was very serious, and considering some of the affected owners, specifically OP’s friend, might not be fully covered by insurance, it’s a huge misfortune.
As one commenter aptly put it, “Imagine having a bad day with guests complaining about trivial things, and you come back to the garage and find your vehicle literal toast and no way to get to work your next shift.”
