One interesting restaurant in Florida has quite the marketing tactic to attract a unique customer base: letting people dine naked. According to WESH 2 News, the owner of Soiree Steakhouse reportedly wants his clientele to be free to really “express themselves.” Since the workers are dressed, letting customers eat and be serviced without clothes is allegedly legal. Though many on the internet feel as though that shouldn’t be the case.
Among the thousands reacting to the restaurant’s “nude dinners,” many felt that the practice might bring about some potential health risks. “That’s gotta be a health code violation,” wrote a TikTok commenter. “World is getting crazier and creepier each day,” sighed another. One person questioned whether customers were expected to undress at the restaurant or before arriving.
It’s easy to imagine that body odors might be a little more intense for those who would be eating without clothes. As one Redditor put it, “I’ve been to South Florida enough to know I don’t want to eat at this restaurant.” A second person pointed out how dirty the chairs would eventually get from people sitting nude on them, not to mention other possible hygiene issues.
“I mean, I’m sure there’s a market for it, especially in Florida, but it’s not for me. Lol, I don’t even eat naked at home,” remarked one user. “Makes dining and dashing fun again!” jokingly exclaimed another.
Nude Dining Is Allegedly One of the Florida Restaurant’s Main Selling Points
Among the people disgusted that such a thing exists, one person made a thoughtful point that strip clubs sometimes can have restaurants or buffets within them. Still, the main appeal isn’t self-expression while eating a steak, and Soiree Steakhouse appears to be very adamant about making the naked dining a core offer of its business.
Interestingly enough, men are expected to pay more, with WPLG Local 10 reporting that “tickets are $250 for men, $150 for women or $300 for couples.” Whether or not there’s a reason for that has not been mentioned, though people could take a guess why.
