Cards Against Humanity is escalating its long-running feud with Elon Musk with a new project aimed at building a monument on its property in Starbase, Texas, bearing the provocative title “Elon Musk Is a Sad Little [Expletive] With No Friends.” The company is asking supporters to help design the monument for $10, turning its dispute with Musk into another public stunt.
Cards Against Humanity announced the project through its website and social media, where it quickly attracted attention. Supporters can join a new Monument Design Committee for $10 and help decide what the monument should look like. The company is also promoting new game expansions, with 10% of profits going toward the project.
The campaign comes from a property dispute dating back to 2024. Cards Against Humanity said Musk’s company damaged a parcel of land it had purchased near the U.S.-Mexico border with gravel, construction equipment and debris connected to SpaceX operations.
The company said it took Musk’s company to court over the alleged damage and that the dispute ended after Musk’s company acknowledged that it had interfered with the property. The land has since become part of Starbase, the company-backed community surrounding SpaceX’s launch operations in South Texas.
Rather than revealing a finished monument in Texas, Cards Against Humanity is asking the public to help create one. The company has encouraged supporters to nominate potential committee members and direct them to its campaign website. It has not yet revealed what the monument will ultimately look like.
The campaign also builds on a 2017 stunt, when roughly 150,000 people paid $15 to support Cards Against Humanity’s effort to protect a parcel of land along the U.S.-Mexico border from Donald Trump’s proposed border wall. “We can build something on our land,” the company said in its announcement. “Something that will annoy Elon Musk.”
