Two toddlers reportedly under 2 years old were found wandering barefoot on a residential street in Tennessee after apparently slipping out of their home unnoticed. A woman happened to be driving through the area when she spotted the children outside by themselves, playing in a puddle of water on the street, according to her.
In the clip she posted on TikTok, one of the children could be seen wearing only a diaper while the other had on a shirt and shorts.
Concerned about what she was seeing, the woman stopped her car and asked the children where they lived. When she did not get a response, she got out and told them to lead her to their home.
Luckily, the children appeared to know exactly where they had come from and began walking back in the direction of their house, with the woman following closely behind.
Woman Shares What Happened After Finding the Children
In a later update, the woman said that the toddlers had gotten home safely. She revealed that the children had managed to get outside through a door that had been left open. Their mother was reportedly using the restroom at the time and did not realize they had gotten out.
According to the woman, the mother was extremely grateful that someone had found her children and brought them safely home.
The whole thing was made even more extraordinary by the fact that the woman said she lives in Memphis but was not even in her jurisdiction when she spotted the children. She explained that she had simply happened to pass through the area that morning.
Netizens Slam Parents After Toddlers Are Found Alone
Due to how young the children were and how easily the situation could have gone differently, the footage left plenty of viewers shaken. Many people in the comments said they were outraged by the incident and criticized the parents as being neglectful.
“Aint nobody noticed 2 kids missing?” one person questioned. Another wrote, “Imagine those babies getting into the wrong hands.”
“I’m calling the cops I’m so tired of neglect. Those kids could have been stolen or killed. Makes me sick,” a third commented. “That’s why i say this generation of parents are horrible,” a fourth said. A fifth added, “A lot of people don’t deserve kids & it angers me that the ones who don’t deserve them have many!”
“Them babies are way too young to be on their own. My blood would be boiling trying to find the parents,” someone else chimed in.
Others were simply relieved that the woman had happened to be there at the right time. “Glad you found them and got them home safely!” one comment read. Another admitted, “Girl why I’m about to cry thank God you were there.”
Despite the backlash directed at the children’s parents, particularly the mother, the woman who found them asked viewers not to be too harsh on her. She acknowledged that mistakes can happen and said parents should learn from the experience and “do better.”
As of this writing, the video has gained more than 400,000 views.
