Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett has sparked widespread reactions after taking aim at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), describing the agency as “the worst-trained, most unhinged federal agency” in a strongly worded social media post. Her remarks soon made the rounds on social media, prompting a flurry of responses.
Taking to Bluesky, Crockett questioned ICE’s spending priorities while criticizing the agency’s investment in controversial electric-shock gloves. Referring to reports about the purchase of electric-shock gloves, she wrote, “The worst-trained, most unhinged federal agency is getting $20 million in electric-shock gloves… but can’t get its body cameras to work?“
Accompanying the post is a short montage of three clips showing people being subjected to the controversial electric-shock gloves. In each clip, an individual is grabbed by someone wearing the device before appearing to collapse to the ground in visible pain.
Through the post, Crockett argued that ICE was prioritizing equipment such as electric-shock gloves while questioning what she described as the agency’s lack of body camera use. The remarks quickly prompted another round of discussion online.
Social Media Reactions
Crockett’s post quickly drew reactions on Reddit and Bluesky, where many users echoed her criticism of the gloves. “This is so sick. Anyone who voted for this is responsible,” one Reddit user wrote, while another sarcastically added, “Noo you don’t get it, it’s ‘bOtH sIdEs!’ This is the democrats fault somehow!“
Several Bluesky users also condemned the gloves themselves. “Torture Gloves. what in the HELL are We Doing!!!!” one person wrote, while another commented, “Evil for the sake of being evil.” Others questioned how the gloves would be used in practice, with one user writing, “And guess what? In winter the gloves will not work through winter coats, so these ICE thugs are going to grab people in the face.”
Not every reaction was entirely serious. One Reddit user joked, “Oh dear. What happens if they take a pee with the gloves? 🤞”
Whatever people’s views on immigration enforcement, Crockett’s post once again highlighted just how polarizing discussions surrounding ICE have become.
