California Gov. Gavin Newsom Attacks Joe Rogan Over Trump’s Corruption, Sparking Backlash: ‘They’re All the Same’

Shots fired again

It appears the public feud between California Governor Gavin Newsom and podcaster Joe Rogan is not about to simmer down soon. Newsom and his team have recently posted a meme targeting Rogan, particularly for how the podcaster keeps featuring conspiracy theories while keeping silent about President Donald Trump’s supposed corruption. Newsom’s meme has since ignited a fierce debate online.

The meme, posted by Newsom’s Press Office, alludes to how Joe Rogan supposedly turns a blind eye to the Trump Administration’s alleged corruption even though the podcaster’s channel is famous for tackling some of the most popular conspiracies today. Newsom’s team apparently found the meme on Reddit and shared it on the Governor’s X account on August 16.

The backlash was swift for the conservatives on X, where some of the most highly-liked comments on the post fired back at Newsom’s current mockery of Joe Rogan and the Trump administration. Some X users then posted similar memes countering Newsom, where the California Governor is supposedly turning a blind eye to his state’s failures while keeping a closer watch on “every Trump conspiracy.”

Others pointed out how Newsom is apparently not being true to his word, as he stated last year that he’s “moving on” from his public feud with Joe Rogan. Some X users then took matters more seriously, criticizing Newsom’s team, “Funny how the Newsom Press Office has time to farm memes on X while ignoring the actual crisis in California. Joe Rogan speaks for millions who watched Newsom forcefully lock down small businesses and schools, only to get caught maskless at the ultra-exclusive French Laundry.”

People online have called out both parties

In any case, it appears not all of Newsom’s critics on X were taking sides. Some have also called out the Democratic Party for having its own scandals, just as the Republican Party does. “They’re all the same. Left covers for the left, the right covers for the right, and you still have to keep paying bills that get higher every year,” claims an X commenter.

Meanwhile, Reddit users found themselves agreeing with Newsom on the meme. Joe Rogan notably endorsed Trump back in 2024 but eventually found himself disagreeing with some of the Trump administration’s decisions, particularly on military conflicts, administrative promises, and other controversies.

“Rogan has definitely been compromised. He used to have a non sense approach about the system and its evils and now he supports them. Disappointed in him. Rarely watch his podcast anymore,” expresses one disappointed Redditor. Thus, people have praised Newsom for continuing to feud with Joe Rogan, even though some might not like him as a politician. “Not sold on Newsom but this helps. Attack this human thumb until it retreats right back into its rear,” claims one commenter.
