Ordering a sandwich typically doesn’t call for an in-depth staff briefing, but one customer at a Jersey Mike’s in New Jersey treated the moment like a full operational inspection. A video shared by X user @omoelerinjare1 captures a woman named Fatima giving a remarkably detailed rundown to an employee – covering grill sanitation, bread size, toasting preferences, and a firm rule against placing cheese directly on counter paper.
By the time she finished, online debate had already erupted over whether her actions stemmed from a legitimate allergy or were part of a pattern designed for social media attention.
In the footage, Fatima informs the staff she has a pork allergy and requests the grill be cleaned before her food is prepared. She then escalates the request, instructing the employee to clean the entire surface rather than just a portion. The worker follows her directions without pushback. She then orders a foot-long Philly cheesesteak with cheese only – no pepperoni – and asks that the bread be toasted “a little more than you normally do.”
Her instructions continue after the order is placed. She comments on the $19.46 total, calling the sandwich “a whole meal.” At the prep area, she stops the employee from placing cheese on the wrapping paper, emphasizing, “don’t ever do that,” before requesting additional pepper, switching from a sub roll to a round one, and adding a light spread of mayonnaise – all while narrating each step on camera.
Over the course of the nearly six-minute clip, Fatima alternates between praising the employee’s efforts and offering corrections, particularly about handling ingredients. She eventually thanks the team and leaves with her sandwich.
Internet Reacts to New Jersey Sandwich Demands
Reactions on X leaned heavily against Fatima’s approach. One commenter argued, “Upcharge for every ridiculous DEMAND & please remember you can refuse service, especially when you record your order… Such a POS.” Another made a similar point, writing, “What’s so damn hard about ordering a sandwich and not creating an issue!?” A third suggested the restaurant simply turn her away: “Nope. Go get your lunch someplace else and never, ever come back.”
Other users focused less on the sandwich and more on the pattern of behavior. One commenter wrote, “This woman needs to be banned from all restaurants! She records herself being obnoxious to fast food workers for clicks and likes.” Another asked, “Why is this woman constantly filming and complaining? I’m so over her and anyone that does nothing but film in live time all of their experiences!!”
Online responses to the video suggest Fatima is a local figure known for similar behavior at various businesses, seemingly aimed at generating online visibility. However, The Nerd Stash was unable to confirm her medical claims, past visits, or whether this particular location has formal allergy protocols.
Jersey Mike’s states that individual stores generally try to honor customer requests, though shared equipment like grills and slicers isn’t sterilized between every use. As of now, neither Fatima nor the company’s corporate office has issued a public statement regarding the incident.
