A search warrant operation in Missouri nearly ended in tragedy this week when law enforcement officers encountered a far greater threat than the suspect they were attempting to apprehend. Video of the incident, now widely shared online, has gained national attention, following injuries that left several officers hospitalized.

ALERT: Deck collapses as US Marshals and police try to serve a search warrant on a s*x offender.

A task force composed of U.S. deputy marshals and members of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office arrived in Huntsville, Missouri, to serve a warrant for 26-year-old Jacob Alexander Munoz, a registered s** offender accused of failing to meet his registration obligations, according to Fox News. As nine officers stood on a second-floor deck outside Munoz’s apartment, the structure gave way and collapsed, causing them to fall to the ground below.

According to NBC News, five officers were taken to the hospital after the incident on July 21. KCTV reported that seven officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized, with some potentially needing surgery.

Steven Lewis, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Missouri, was quoted as saying by Local 12 that the collapse happened without warning: “Someone described it almost as if a trap door opened and it fell that way. Not away from the structure, but straight down, which gave them almost no time to react.”

Lewis added: “All received injuries that would be consistent with a pretty serious fall. Some broken bones, some other types [of] injuries.”

Internet Reacts to Missouri Deck Collapse

Reactions to the video on X ranged from shock to pointed questions about the structure itself. One commenter joked, “Holy [expletive]! It’s raining men!” while another wrote, “Someone didn’t do a safety checklist!”

A third pointed to a possible cause: “They had over 2000 pounds of people on a poorly made old deck. Not very smart on their part not thinking they might be overloading it.”

Others focused on construction concerns. One user wrote, “I don’t see a ledger board on that deck. Sometimes, code is a good thing,” referencing the structural support typically required to anchor a deck to a building. Another commenter expressed sympathy for those involved, writing, “No matter how bad your day today it was better than these poor officers.”
