An Iowa woman reportedly took an axe to her boyfriend’s van after he admitted to cheating on her.
The video of the damaged van appeared to have been filmed by an employee at a car shop where the man took the vehicle. The employee began recording the van while explaining that the customer had told them he cheated on his girlfriend, prompting her to allegedly take an axe to the vehicle.
“Customer states ‘girlfriend got angry because I cheated on her,’” the employee said as he filmed the damage. One side of the van appeared to have around nine deep slashes allegedly left by the axe. “So she took a [expletive] axe to his [expletive] van,” the employee added as he continued showing the condition of the vehicle.
The employee then filmed the front of the van, showing that the passenger door also had several deep slashes. The girlfriend also appeared to have completely smashed the vehicle’s windshield. The hood was heavily damaged as well, with dozens of visible slashes and punctures across it.
The employee shared another video showing more of the damage allegedly caused by the van owner’s girlfriend. In the footage, the vehicle’s windows also appeared to have been smashed, not just the windshield. The employee further claimed that the girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend was a lumberjack, seemingly suggesting that this may have been where she allegedly got the axe.
“Jesus Christ,” the employee said as he filmed more of the damage. He then claimed that the girlfriend “knew what she was doing” because she had also used the axe to put holes in the radiator. “Oh yeah, she destroyed this thing,” he said as the video ended. The employee also added in the caption, “Maybe next time he’ll think before he cheats.” It is unclear whether the man ultimately pressed charges against his girlfriend.
Viewers Side With Iowa Man’s Girlfriend Over Van Damage
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers appeared to side with the Iowa man’s girlfriend over the alleged damage she caused to his van. Some argued that he deserved the retaliation because he had cheated on her. “I’m on her side,” one person wrote. Another commenter took a different view, saying, “Or just drop the dude cause now your gonna be paying him for a while after being psychotic.”
More viewers continued siding with the girlfriend, arguing that the damage would not have happened if the man had not cheated on her. “Maybe next time…. He’ll think ……. Before he cheats,” one person wrote. Others jokingly offered to provide alibis for the woman, with one commenter saying, “He’s framing her, she was at the gym with me.” Someone else added, “Looks like a deer accident to me. You can tell by the way the windshield cracked.”
The video sparked a broader conversation about how some people can have extreme reactions after discovering that their partner has cheated on them. It also led to discussion about the potential legal consequences of damaging a cheating partner’s property. Some argued that retaliating in this way can create additional problems for the person who was hurt by the infidelity.
