The lack of empathy is astounding

A woman claims she witnessed an encounter at a café in Hawaii that left her heartbroken. In a TikTok story-time video, she says she saw a homeless man outside who needed water, but when she went to get him some, a worker responded with what she described as a lack of empathy. She is now urging viewers, “Do not support this café!“

Eva (@egut1errez_) said she experienced something “absolutely disgusting” at the ALOH Health Bar & Café in Honolulu. A homeless man was sitting outside the restaurant and said he needed some water to drink. Eva told him she would get him water and went into the café. She asked if she could pay for a large cup of water. The worker told her that she could have some for free and that it was at the back of the café. Unfortunately, when she went to grab the water, a worker told her, “It’s for customers only.”

Absolutely disgusting. idk how someone could see another human (OR ANY LIVING BEING) and deny them basic rights. no humanity at all, and i initially offered to pay , was directed by a worker to go to the back to get their free water in the back of the cafe & was met by another worker / possible store manager/ owner with a complete lack of humanity & basic empathy. Locals & tourists, do not go here. #fyp #oahu #waikiki #honolulu #local

Eva told the worker that she was willing to pay for the water; she just wanted to do something kind for a person in need. Eva told the worker, “There’s bigger things you need to be worried about” but to this, the worker remarked, “It’s my money.” She left the café and put them on blast for how they treated her and this homeless man.

As she tells her audience, “It takes zero dollars to be a good person.” Instead of treating this man with respect and human decency, he didn’t receive any without a fight. Now, Eva is telling her audience that the workers at this café have a “complete lack of humanity and basic empathy.” She tells them, “Locals and tourists, do not go here.”

Commenters immediately flooded Eva’s comments after posting her video. Many shared their reactions toward the business and how badly they treated her and the homeless man. One commenter simply stated: “Water should be a human RIGHT. This is not a debate.” Another person added, “In AZ it’s illegal to deny anyone water. They HAD to make a LAW.”

Other commenters suggested other businesses that are kind to all people in the area. One commenter even said they reviewed the business after they learned of this behavior. According to them, “Went straight to Yelp to give them a 1-star because absolutelyyy notttt.” Commenters continue to share their opinions on the video about how it was handled and how they’ll be taking their business elsewhere.
