A TikTok influencer in New York stopped a homeless man to offer him food, and the encounter left many online viewers believing he may have prevented a murder from happening.

In the video, the TikTok influencer was carrying two bags of food while filming as he approached a homeless man to offer him one of the meals. The footage appeared to show the man walking behind a woman wearing a pink t-shirt with one hand clenched into a fist, seemingly holding an object.

The homeless man continued walking behind the woman until she stopped near a set of stairs. She appeared to gesture for him to go first, but he remained where he was. The woman then changed direction and walked away from the stairs. The man also changed direction instead of taking the stairs and appeared to begin following her again. Before he could continue, however, the influencer called out to him and stopped him to offer him food.

The footage continued to show the man holding an object in his hand. Many viewers believed it was a pocketknife and speculated that he intended to harm the woman. Others argued that the object appeared to be a lighter instead. What happened next led many online commenters to believe the man may have had harmful intentions, although his intentions cannot be confirmed from the video alone.

The influencer then invited the man to choose one of the two bags of food he was carrying. Throughout the interaction, the homeless man did not speak, responding only by nodding or shaking his head. The influencer also asked for the man’s name, but he repeatedly declined to provide it. He likewise refused the influencer’s suggestion to type his name into the phone. Some viewers interpreted that as an attempt to avoid being identified by authorities. However, there is no confirmed evidence that the man intended to harm the woman, and any claims about his motives remain speculative and unverified.

Viewers Thank New York Influencer for Stopping Homeless Man

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers said they believed the New York homeless man intended to harm the woman he appeared to be following. As a result, numerous commenters praised the influencer for stopping to offer him food, believing the interaction may have interrupted whatever the man was planning. “He was gonna kill that girl…,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “No one caught that he was following the girl in the pink shirt. You distracting him stopped her from possibly getting hurt.”

More viewers speculated that the man had harmful intentions. “Got a switchblade in his hand. That’s why he didn’t want to give you his name. Bro was about to commit a felony,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “You might have actually saved a life today.” Not everyone agreed with that interpretation, however. “The human brain is genuinely melting. Y’all see 1 comment spreading false info and js roll with it. He’s clearly holding a lighter and not a knife,” another person wrote.

The video sparked a conversation about how small acts of kindness can unexpectedly change the course of a situation, with some viewers believing the influencer may have unknowingly prevented someone from being harmed. It also led to broader discussion about the importance of staying aware of one’s surroundings while avoiding jumping to conclusions, as a person’s intentions cannot be determined from a short video alone.
