Jasmine Crockett is drawing backlash after stating that the Black community is not “excited” about Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico. In remarks shared widely on X from a recent interview, the Texas congresswoman said she does not feel that excitement necessarily exists within the community. The comments come as Talarico works to build support among Black voters in his race against Republican Ken Paxton.

💥NEW: Jasmine Crockett says black community isn't "EXCITED" about James Talarico💥

"I personally don't feel like the excitement necessarily exists within the black community … I don't feel like they're excited!"

The clip comes from an interview with U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett on the Front Page show with Mimi Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network. In the video, Crockett discusses her approach after the primary. She says, “In my mind, the best way that I can help the people of Texas is if I go in and I help out on these down-ballot races because typically people rely on the top of the ticket to drag people in.”

She continues, “I personally don’t feel like the excitement necessarily exists within the Black community, right? … I don’t feel like they’re excited.” Crockett adds that she has “some amazing Black candidates that are running for office in some of the largest counties” and that introducing voters to them “may excite them and get them to the polls. So I’m working backwards.”

The remarks reference her decision to focus on lower-level races rather than the top of the Democratic ticket. The comments come after a contentious Democratic primary in which Black voters overwhelmingly supported Crockett, despite Talarico ultimately winning the nomination by a decisive margin. The video does not show the full interview context before or after these statements.

X Weighs In After Crockett Questions Black Support for the Ticket

Several users accused Crockett of actively undermining Talarico out of bitterness or pettiness after the primary. One wrote, “Crockett is actively undermining Talarico. She would rather have a criminal fascist go to the Senate than see the person who beat her in the primary go to the Senate. Yes, she supposedly endorsed him. But now she is actively damaging him on purpose.”

Another said, “Can’t believe I’ve ever liked this selfish woman. Purposely dragging Talarico down out of pettiness,” while a third commented, “Jasmine, I used to love you. But you’re so clearly a bit hurt and bitter.”

Others described her comments as “Sour Loser Syndrome” or highlighted what they saw as a broken promise. One user noted, “Reminder that Crockett promised to campaign for Talarico if he won,” and another observed, “What’s heartbreaking here is that if she had won, Talarico would be pounding the pavement for her.”
