A California pickup basketball game reportedly took a serious turn when an argument over who was next to play didn’t stay on the court, ending instead with a call to police. The decision had viewers roasting him online, even as some admitted pickup games can get messy enough to make tempers flare.
Posted to TikTok by @isthatchi, the creator says the disagreement started over who had next on the court.
“They called the police because I called next,” he says before panning over to show what was happening around the court. Two uniformed officers can be seen speaking with a man in workout gear. The others with the creator seem to find it funny, laughing as the recording continues.
The California creator’s caption summed the situation up bluntly. “He couldn’t get on the court so he called the cops…”
TikTok Says That’s a Foul
Much of the discussion centered on the decision to call police, with viewers treating it as a wildly extreme response to a pickup basketball dispute. “That’s so Drake of him,” one commenter wrote.
Another warned the player not to expect a warm welcome back. “Y’all better not EVER let him play with y’all again.” One viewer admitted to being petty on the court themselves but still drew the line here. “I be petty on the court but this too far,” they wrote.
Others focused less on the pettiness and more on what it could have turned into. “Y’all laughing…Dude is actually dangerous AF!” one commenter wrote. Others argued the call amounted to misusing emergency services and questioned why police were even responding to disputes like this.
Not everyone was fully on the creator’s side, though. One commenter thought the other player might have had a real complaint. “Ngl them dudes corny if they not letting him hoop. (coming from a real hooper),” they wrote. Another added context about how hard it can be to get a game going when people hold spots for friends. “I don’t agree with the guy who called the cops but I understand it,” they wrote.
It’s hard to miss how quickly the situation escalated. What started as a disagreement over a spot on the court turned into a call to the police. A game that should have ended with someone sitting out instead brought real consequences.
