A Washington, D.C. police officer confronted a man over bringing a goat onto the Metro, repeatedly warning him that goats aren’t allowed in the city or on public transportation. The unusual encounter sparked debate on TikTok. Some viewers defended the officer’s approach, others felt she could have delivered the message without being hostile, and plenty were simply baffled that a goat ended up on the Metro in the first place.
Posted to TikTok by @mrsekbwitk.35, the video shows @kynobap being confronted by an officer who lays out the rule directly. “You cannot have goats in D.C.,” she says. She tells him that animal patrol at Navy Yard had already given him this information and that he can’t claim he didn’t know. “You’re not allowed to have goats on a metro. And you still continue to do what you want.”
The video doesn’t show @kynobap’s response to the D.C. officer. Her serious tone, however, leaves viewers wondering whether the warning finally stuck this time.
Not His First Warning
Plenty of commenters latched onto one detail. This wasn’t a first-time mistake. The officer made it clear she’d already warned him before, and for a lot of viewers, that was reason enough to side with her.
“That lady isn’t being hostile, she’s being assertive. If he’s not gonna listen, the system will make him listen,” one commenter wrote. Some viewers were convinced he’d already faced serious legal trouble for this same offense. “Didn’t he get arrested for this already?” one commenter wrote.
One viewer pointed out that the capital does in fact prohibit keeping goats as pets. “It is illegal to have or own goats in Washington, D.C. Goats are considered livestock and is not a domestic pet. Let alone, you cannot bring goats on public transportation,” they wrote.
But plenty of commenters pushed back on how the message was delivered, even if they agreed with the rule. “Telling to shut up is disrespectful to a grown man. I get her point and she can make it without being disrespectful.”
A smaller group defended the goat outright, rules or not. “But people can bring their damn dogs?? I rather have a goat on the metro!!!” one commenter wrote.
Some viewers got more technical, floating the idea that the goat could be a service animal, which would change the rules entirely. One commenter just seemed baffled by the scale of it all, writing, “It takes 85 officers for this?“
The overall feeling was a mix. Some wished police would spend their time on actual crimes instead of something this small. Others agreed but placed the blame differently. They wished people would stop doing silly things like this. That way, officers could focus on real crime instead.
