A bakery in Miami, Florida, has accused an Uber driver of stealing hundreds of cinnamon rolls. The driver allegedly got hold of 350 rolls worth around $3,000 and is now facing legal trouble, as a police report was filed.
Julie with Roll & Dough shared the cinnamon roll theft story on her business page. She often shares vlogs of how the Japanese milk bun-style cinnamon rolls are made. The Uber driver story, divided into multiple parts, went viral, with the initial clip garnering 1.3 million views, 186,500 likes, and more than 1,700 comments.
The Florida woman explained that around 350 cinnamon rolls were stolen by an Uber. The team at Roll & Dough was devastated and forced to use Sunday’s inventory on Saturday, in addition to making fresh new batches of rolls to keep up with demand. Julie also said that they paid $55 for the Uber ride, and that the company even charged them a total of $205.
Full Refund, Pressing Charges
In a follow-up clip, Julie provided more details about the alleged cinnamon roll theft. She showed that the Uber courier ride took about four hours and 40 minutes to complete. All the while, she and her team texted and called the man relentlessly, to no avail.
The delivery failed, and Julie was charged the aforementioned $205. She called Uber and managed to get a $100 refund at first. In total, the 350-cinnamon-roll loss cost her and Roll & Dough around $3,100.
In a third clip, the Florida woman showed that Uber agreed to give them a full refund around 48 hours after the incident occurred. Julie also shared that she visited the police station and pressed charges against the Uber driver.
