HoYoverse Has Unveiled a Stunning New Co-op Title Called Nodusfall

An unexpected but welcome surprise

Many of us were already expecting a couple of surprises during Gamescom 2026, but what we were not expecting was HoYoverse to open the show with a brand-new reveal and one that looks completely different from what we’re used to from this studio. Nodusfall is the new title that is in development, and instead of being set in some of the idyllic and colorful worlds we’ve seen in many of the studio’s games, this one has a darker tone and some of the most stunning visuals we’ve seen.

Initially, many who saw the trailer might have thought that another soulslike installment was on the way, but this was something completely different. HoYoverse revealed Nodusfall, which is a co-op action game where you take the role of a Weaver as they face off against colossal creatures in epic fashion.

The one thing that caught the attention of many and made the “HoYoverse” studio reveal at the end a bigger surprise was the visuals. Many of us have grown used to seeing more anime-themed titles from the developers, but it seems that they are moving away from that and focusing on a more realistic, detailed, and unique take on the dark fantasy genre.

Despite the story still being a mystery, even if there were some lore drops already that are great for some early world-building, we got to see some combat, and it looks fantastic. From what we saw, characters wield different weapons and have unique attacks and skills. It is still unclear whether we’ll be able to create our Weaver or pick from different ones in the game, but whatever the approach may be, fighting these colossal monsters looks great.

Furthermore, it seems HoYoverse is really aiming for a tight co-op experience as, judging by the trailer, there are moves you can pull together with other characters and players. This means we’ll likely have to coordinate during these epic fights, which looks extremely interesting, as more dark fantasy titles could use the co-op treatment.

So far, the studio hasn’t revealed a release window for Nodusfall, but knowing HoYoverse, the developers are already hard at work on it, and we’ll likely see more news about it in the coming months.
