A California mom is under fire over a lack of consequences for her daughter’s alleged bad behavior at school. Many in the comments blast this decision as problematic, arguing that it has consequences for the teachers. The video has over 431,000 views and over 37,000 likes.
The video was shared on a teacher’s TikTok, who posts herself commenting on it. The California mom begins by explaining, “My daughter got in trouble yesterday because of her behavior.” She doesn’t specify what her child did. At first, the parent seems to be sticking by her choice to ground her daughter. The teacher initially thanks her for having “actual consequences.” Then the mother states that she told her daughter she couldn’t have any social plans. After two birthday parties that conclude Friday night, the child couldn’t do anything over the weekend.
However, when she goes to drop her daughter off at one of the birthday parties, she gets a text from a friend inviting her to a concert on Saturday night. The California mother said she responded, “You text her that you’re grounded. And you also text her, yes, you can go.” This reaction leaves the teacher disappointed, and has others criticizing her decision. The teacher states she understands punishment can be “really hard for a parent,” but, “Do you realize what you just did?”
Teachers Blast California Mom For Backing Down
Teachers aren’t happy in the comments, with many saying they saw this coming. One says, “I knew there was trouble brewing when her grounding started on Saturday.” Another says, “Every teacher knew how that was going to end. We ALL knew.” A third commenter says, “Yeah…we all have that mom on our caseload…”
Meanwhile, others call out the California mom for immediately backing down from giving her daughter consequences. One says, “They’re too focused on trying to be their best friend than their actual parent.” Another is shocked: “Dude!!! Who is in charge here?” However, one commenter is just over it. They say, “She allowed her to attend parties and then allowed her to attend a concert. This is why kids don’t listen. This is permissive parenting where the child is in control.”
The California mom hasn’t responded to the backlash and has comments turned off on her original video.
