In a perfect world, people would treat pets with care and love. However, this isn’t a perfect world, and one resident in Charlotte, North Carolina, claims their neighbor has been more than unkind to their 3-month-old puppy. Posting to r/Charlotte, Reddit user Beginning-Sea-9068 says the poor thing has been sitting in a cage outside for days. He believes this alleged mistreatment is “cruel and unusual,” and other locals agree.
“There’s been crazy storms since Thursday. This poor dog,” remarked one commenter. “Your neighbor deserves to be locked in a cage,” suggested another.
“This post enraged me. I am fuming. That owner needs [to be] locked up,” agreed a third. “Call the cops, this is considered animal cruelty,” demanded a fourth.
Dozens upon dozens in r/Charlotte chimed in, saying they’d be willing to take in the puppy if OP would reach out. According to Beginning Sea, the neighbor hasn’t been feeding the dog or giving it water. So, he’s taken it upon himself to keep the pup alive. Others wondered why animal control or the police got involved yet, and OP says he’s called them both twice, but to no avail.
OP Says The Puppy Was Too Scared to Leave Its Cage
One Redditor asked why Beginning Sea doesn’t just open the cage and let the puppy be free. He responded, explaining why that wouldn’t work: “That’s the sad part. I already did, and he was so hungry and scared he just stayed there. Next day I went to work at 5AM he was still there.”
Some questioned whether Beginning Sea would be taking in the dog himself, and he answered with confidence: “I’ll go kidnap him in a heartbeat.” And seemingly, he did just that, claiming that he took the puppy in and left a note on the neighbor’s door if they wondered where it had gone.
Someone in the area eventually came to get the puppy, but Beginning Sea says they had to bring it back because their dog didn’t get along with it. As of now, the pup is still with him, with no updates on whether someone else would be taking it in. At the very least, the 3-month-old is allegedly in the care of someone who doesn’t want it locked away in a cage outside.
