A North Carolina woman was shocked after discovering that her neighbor had allegedly cleared a wooded section of her property to create a path for construction. She said numerous trees were removed and the area was left bare. The situation sparked a property dispute, with the woman taking steps to determine where her property line sits and what happened to the trees.
The story was shared on TikTok by Alexia Arvelo, who goes by the username lexiarvelo. Her original video received more than three million views, while several follow-up updates attracted hundreds of thousands of views as viewers followed the developing dispute.
Arvelo explained that the affected section of the property was located behind a fence and had not been cleared, allowing a large number of trees to grow there. According to her, a neighbor was preparing to build a structure nearby and cleared a path through the wooded area to make construction easier.
The North Carolina woman said she discovered what had happened and began taking steps to document the situation. On the second day, she said she contacted police and had a surveyor come out to examine the property. She also said she was considering contacting a lawyer.
In another update, she said new markers had been placed to identify the property line after she allegedly discovered that the previous markers had been removed. She also mentioned using a Geographic Information System, or GIS, to help examine the property boundaries.
The North Carolina woman later said she went to the courthouse to get guidance about the legal side of the dispute.
