North Carolina Woman Defends Dress As Judgmental Churchgoers Believe it Wasn’t Appropriate: ‘Good thing I came for God and not your approval’

A North Carolina woman is seeing buzz online after she uploaded a confrontational conversation she had with other churchgoers. Rather than be concerned with themselves, the attendees argued her dress wasn’t appropriate for church. She made it crystal clear what she wore to church wasn’t anyone’s concern—a nothing burger.

Posted by TikTok user Everythingbam_, Bam was seen being approached by several members of her church. Bam wore a beautiful pink dress—entirely modest, if nothing else—but they deemed it inappropriate for service. They remarked how her “chest moved during praise.”

@everythingbam_

Telling somebody to approach me about my undergarments because my chest moved during my praise which is out of my control is crazy & the LEAST of my worries when I’m caught up🥱 Don’t nobody say anything when the big bodied folks shout and everything is moving, but you’re worried about my chest? I come to church to praise the Lord. If I’m caught up in the Spirit, do you honestly think I’m worried about my chest moving? Then to say, “Men are going to be men,” made it even worse. Men are going to be men whether a woman is covered in a sheet or not. I have a whole husband. I am not coming to church worried about anybody else’s man. 🫠 I’m so glad God calmed me down today because He is still working on me. I cannot wait to go back to service next Sunday and stomp on the devil’s head because he was definitely busy today. Mind your body and your business. Sweep around your own front door before you ever step foot near mine. #UHOP

Wondering why that was their worry, Bam asks her audience, “If I’m caught up in the Spirit, do you honestly think I’m worried about my chest moving?” In the outlandish confrontation, Bam tells her she doesn’t really want to hear what anyone has to say. “Don’t pull me to the side about nothing that I got on. Because I don’t care. At the end of the day, I’m going to put on what I’m doing to put on,” she says.

On top of the shocking statements they made and how they decided to confront her, it got much worse. At one point, Bam alleges the churchgoer told her, “Men are going to be men,” which was apparently her way of saying she shouldn’t wear clothing that makes men look at her.

Of course, the comment threw Bam off and left her appalled by how she was treated at service. She says of the confrontation, “I cannot wait to go back to service next Sunday and stomp on the devil’s head because he was definitely busy today.”

How people reacted to Bam’s poor church experience

Many defended Bam just as much as she defended herself, arguing the dress was very modest—and if it wasn’t, who cares? That wasn’t anyone’s decision except the wearer.

“AND THIS IS WHY PEOPLE DON’T GO TO CHURCH,” one viewer cried. Why should a place of worship be a spot for gossip and interpersonal problems, right?

Another commenter wrote, “And if they was in the spirit, they wouldn’t have seen you.” That means they weren’t praising the Lord but preoccupied by church etiquette.

Many took it further by insulting men with a “lustful spirit” if “they have an issue with your dress.” Of course, many were delighted by Bam’s clothing. “She looked beautiful. I heard God said come as you are.”

Since her original post, Bam has only followed up with a second video. She wore a nun’s outfit, taunting other churchgoers. “Hopefully my chest stays completely still this Sunday,” she wrote, and hoped no one will “miss God” if they happen to look at her outfit.
