A woman in Kansas City, Missouri, got pulled over for several traffic violations she allegedly committed while behind the wheel. She was potentially left off the hook, however, right after she told the officer that she worked as a 911 dispatcher. Her vlogging of the traffic stop was criticized online.

it was yellow so I sped up to beat the red light 🫩 don’t act like you haven’t done it before 😪 #policeofficer #policedispatch #trafficstop #911dispatcher #911operator

Gaby, known as 911itsgaby online, shared the interaction online. Her content revolves around her job as a 911 operator, often sharing skits and lifestyle vlogs. The clip attached above gained traction, garnering 341,900 views, 24,200 likes, and more than 180 comments in a day.

The Missouri woman began recording herself as soon as she was pulled over. Soon, the officer approached her window and explained the reasons for the traffic stop. According to him, he stopped her for running a red light, speeding, and having expired tags. Gaby said, “Yes…“

Gaby told the cop that she was going to a Dollar Tree, adding that she “thought” she was going to outrun the yellow light turning red. She didn’t.

The officer returned to his patrol car, potentially to print her tickets. Gaby, meanwhile, found her proof of insurance and started to “freak out” while waiting for the cop to return.

“I’m definitely not telling him I’m a dispatcher. Definitely gonna give me a bigger bill,” she said.

Dispatcher Reveal

The officer returned, and an off-camera conversation took place. The Missouri woman said that she asked the officer if he had run her in his system. When the officer asked why, she answered, “Our officers can’t do that.” The cop asked her about her job, and that’s when Gaby told him she was a dispatcher.

“He’s like, ‘Well, I would have given you a much harder time.’ He’s like, ‘Why didn’t you tell me? And I’m like, ‘I don’t know,’” Gaby continued.

According to her, the officer told her to “hang tight” before once again returning to his patrol car. She then said that the cop “yelled at her with love” and that she was “their lifeline,” referring to her position as a 911 dispatcher.

“Really appreciate that officer for getting on to me. This is definitely a learning lesson. I want you guys to see that dispatchers are human, too. We’re not perfect. And shout-out to the officers who do have these conversations with other law enforcement workers. Stay safe out there, and I promise I’m gonna be safer, too,” Gaby added.

Social Media Reactions

The Missouri woman’s clip was met with mixed opinions online. Some viewers, most of them dispatchers themselves, found her story relatable. One said, “Literally would have been the first thing I said,” referring to Gaby’s job as a dispatcher. Another one commented, “I tell them I’m a dispatcher every time.”

Others, however, reacted negatively to Gaby’s vlog. They believe, based on Gaby’s words, that the officer voided the tickets after she revealed she was a dispatcher, which would explain the “hang tight” statement.

“This is not a good look for your agency,” one user wrote. Another one said, “So, you hinted at being a dispatcher… You violated policy 100%.” A third one added, “Perfect. This will be forwarded to her agency.” Even Gaby herself confirmed that people have already reported her to her agency thanks to her clip.

It is unclear whether Gaby was given a ticket or not. She did say that the officer got in contact with her office, which led to her sergeant and other officers mentioning her traffic stop to her.
