A Pennsylvania man shared a disturbing interaction she had with several Highmark security personnel, which quickly turned hostile after one of the officers accused him of trespassing. This was all spurred on when the man had supposedly accessed a section of the building, despite having a badge.
TikTok user Fuglyuggo, Chase, posted the video on social media, which left him feeling appalled and confused. According to him, a “black man used a toilet he wasn’t supposed to use.” A security officer for the building suddenly accused Chase of not belonging inside the building, despite running a business within the building.
Chase told the officer he was on his way to grab lunch on his break. “No! You’re not supposed to be in here.” The officer asks him how he got in the building and he states, “With the badge.” It was used to navigate the security gate within the building.
Although Chase’s explanation was reasonable, the security officer holds onto the badge and won’t give it back. Chase even points to the security gate and instructs the officer to use the badge to prove that it works. By then a second security guard appears.
Chase once again defends himself, saying the other man stole his badge while he was on his way to grab lunch. After getting his badge back, Chase tries to walk away, but is suddenly stopped by the second security guard.
At this point, Chase demands, “Please don’t touch me!” He records the officer’s hand on his wrist, holding him in place, with the two badgering him about having to follow “rules” in the building. Chase insists he is, holding up his badge and saying, “These are the rules” before finally being let go.
Viewers online insist security guards were too hostile
Given how quickly the security officer escalated the situation, Chase’s audience online argued they were being way too hostile. And considering both were armed with firearms, it could’ve been worse. “Just what we want… a man shaking uncontrollably with a gun,” a viewer wrote.
Another was displeased with how the second security officer attempted to manhandle Chase. “They both need to be fired😡why are they grabbing him? 😡😡😡😡😡😡.”
One viewer suggested Chase press charges, adding, “They grabbed you (which if is an unwanted touch/grab is technically assault) so you can press charges and I’d definitely turn it into the news. The guy was physically shaking like he was on a power trip.”
Chase also gave an update to the aftermath of the situation in the comments. According to Chase, the officer who originally accused him of trespassing was “forced to give the business a half-assed apology,” which he had to ask for. However, he shares that he doesn’t “like this situation” because he’s “supposed to act like it never happened.”
