It seems that DICEโ€™s Battlefield V is just another game that has had to adjust for the juggernaut releases coming in October (or Broketober).

EA has announced that Battlefield V will not be making its original release date of October 19th but instead hit shelves November 20th, just a month later. EA sent out an update revealing this news, stating:

โ€œWe believe we have one of the best Battlefield games ever on our hands. ย A game that will deliver on an emotional journey through the return of unseen single player War Stories, a deep multiplayer experience, Battle Royale, along with our new live service, Tides of War – a journey across multiple theaters of WW2 and designed to keep our community together.

With the Open Beta just around the corner, we are excited about the millions of you who will join us and experience the game. And we fully expect to see even more feedback coming our way.

And thatโ€™s why weโ€™re moving our launch date. Weโ€™re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War.โ€

Battlefield V

Even though it is completely understandable for a high-profile game like Battlefield V to take its time and polish some things, itโ€™s hard to believe that the pending releases of Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII and Red Dead Redemption 2 had nothing to do with it.

EA has had a similar issue with release date competition in the past with Respawnโ€™s Titanfall 2. Over time, Titanfall 2 has been praised by those who have played it but at release, it opened to disappointing sales numbers. This was due to competing with FPS juggernauts Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and EAโ€™ s own Battlefield 1.

Whether this move to delay Battlefield V was made to polish gameplay, adjust to competition or a combination of the two, it was still the right call by EA and DICE. There are always ways to improve your game and staying out of Treyarch and Rockstarโ€™s way this fall seems like a safe bet.

What are your thoughts on Battlefield V? Does this delay impact your feelings on it? Let us know in the comments and be sure to follow us here at The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
