A Texas salon owner jumped the gun when a big-name YouTuber reached out to her about services. Instead of treating them like an everyday customer, she decided to don her salon out to look like it was fit for royalty. But then, when the YouTuber never showed up, she decided to blast them on social media, leaving TikTok commenters with so many questions.
Shai (@shaiwathanspa) owns a salon in Texas. She claims that a big-name YouTuber named Duke Dennis wanted possible services at her salon. But she says that she recently recorded the “part of owning a business nobody sees. Going above and beyond for every client, this is what it looks like when you’re a no-call, no-show client.”
In Shai’s video, she shows the moment she was blown away by famous YouTuber Duke Dennis. He reached out to her, asking, “You in Houston?” She immediately became so excited that she printed out a photo ad of Duke, with the words “RESERVED FOR VIP DUKE DENNIS” printed on it, and pasted it on her front shop window. Shai sets up for him, mixing products so he can allegedly receive nail services at her salon.
But by that evening, Duke Dennis never showed. She said because of this, “time, money and products” were wasted. She leaves her shop, upset by the entire interaction. But text messages between Shai and Dennis paint a different picture. She gets overly excited about the fact that he’s close to her salon and tries to set an appointment. He asks when she’s free and she immediately throws times out at him, to which he responds with a simple, “Ok.” Then, she texts him multiple times but he never replies. It’s safe to say she may have overreacted a bit when a celebrity client reached out to her.
Commenters immediately reacted to Shai’s video, with one pointing out that Duke actually reposted her video after she claims he stood her up! Many commenters shared with Shai that the way she overreacted was “crazy.” As one commenter stated, “The flyer is actually insane, what made you do that?!”
Commenters agreed that the overreaction is probably what made him stay away from the salon. As one commenter mentioned, “A flyer? Then calling? I think he got scared.” Another commenter pointed out, “Y’all gotta stop treating these people like they’re Gods.
