Despite being eliminated from the mayoral race for Los Angeles, California, TV star Spencer Pratt is still fighting his former opponents politically. This time around, Pratt is aiming Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, accusing the city leader of abandoning residents during a series of devastating fires, most notably the Palisades Fire, and unleashing a furious political attack on social media.
The former Hills star, who lost his Pacific Palisades home in the January 2025 wildfire, has repeatedly blamed Bass for what he describes as failures in Los Angeles’ fire preparedness and water infrastructure. Pratt unleashed his latest criticism on September 22, and it comes amid Bass’ campaign for re-election. The former mayoral candidate accused Bass, calling her “You stupid communist,” as she “literally fled to AFRICA during the biggest challenge LA ever had.” Pratt was referring to the 2025 Palisades Fire.
Pratt has previously been outspoken about Bass’ handling of the Palisades fire, making the disaster a central part of his unsuccessful campaign for Los Angeles mayor. He has also criticized the city’s water infrastructure and the condition of reservoirs used for firefighting.
It’s worth noting that Mayor Karen Bass was in Ghana as part of an official U.S. presidential delegation sent by President Joe Biden to attend the inauguration of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama. She traveled to West Africa on January 4, 2025, just before the severe windstorm and the eruption of the destructive Palisades Fire on January 7, 2025. Pratt’s tirade has ignited a fierce debate
Regardless of Bass’ statement last year, Pratt attacked her earlier this month after a brush fire near the Getty Center grew to approximately 25 acres. At the time, Bass said she had spoken with Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley and that firefighters and helicopters were working to contain the blaze. LAFD later reported that forward progress had stopped. Pratt nevertheless argued that Los Angeles remains dangerously unprepared for another major wildfire.
The latest social media backlash has been considerably harsher. One commenter on X recalled footage of Bass being confronted about the wildfires and claimed she “remained dead silent instead of answering,” calling it an embarrassing political moment. Another user wrote, “She talks horse-[expletive] just like all commies. Talk is cheap,” before adding that “Justice is coming.”
Pratt’s accusations, however, have also invited some critics, with one X user firing back at the former mayoral candidate, saying, “She beat your [expletive] and now you’re bitter,” while another echoed the sentiment, arguing, “Stay a mad, jealous, bloated, fake untalented plastic wife having, burned down house having, crystal in [expletive], loser. Trying to blame a natural disaster on this woman in the way you do makes you look like a [expletive] fool.”
Pratt’s feud with Bass appears to show no signs of slowing. He entered the 2026 mayoral race after losing his home in the Palisades fire and criticized the city’s response a central part of his campaign. The Los Angeles Times reported that Pratt frequently attacked Bass during the campaign, even referring to her as “Basura,” but later unexpectedly praised her performance in a mayoral debate against Nithya Raman.
