A Chick-fil-A worker in Alabama was fired after sharing a video in which she said that she farts while on the job.
The situation began after the worker shared a video showing her wearing her Chick-fil-A uniform while standing outside and taking orders. She used the video to say that she farts while working, while farting sounds played over the entire clip. She also wrote on the video, “Me letting it out because we outside.” A few days later, she stitched the video and added another clip revealing that she had been fired.
Viewers quickly assumed that the worker had been fired because of the video in which she revealed that she farts while working. This prompted her to share a third video explaining what actually led to her being fired. She began by saying that she did not really need a job before explaining that she had recently moved, leaving her about 20 minutes away from the Chick-fil-A where she worked. Because of the longer distance, she applied to another Chick-fil-A location that was closer to her.
After providing this context, she said that she had been working at that Chick-fil-A for around four or five months. She explained that employees receive points when they do something wrong, such as arriving late or getting written up. According to her, the limit for each worker is 24 points.
The worker then shared a screenshot showing the points she had accumulated. Between July 21 and September 17, she received 20 points, with some of them being issued for reasons such as arriving late or needing to focus on school. She explained that she did not receive the points because she was a bad worker, but because life simply happens.
The former Chick-fil-A worker then explained that the video of her wearing the uniform and saying that she farts at work was not the first video she had made while wearing the uniform. She had previously made another video that gained some views, which a coworker eventually showed to other employees at work.
At the time, she did not realize that employees were not allowed to make videos while wearing their work uniforms. However, she took full responsibility for violating the policy. “That’s their policy. I shouldn’t have done that,” she said. She continued by explaining that her manager spoke to her about the video and had a “nasty attitude” toward her. The incident eventually caused her problems at work, after which she said she began caring less about the job, especially since she was only being paid $9.50 per hour.
Her changing attitude toward the job led her to post the second video while wearing her uniform. This was the one featuring farting sounds. She assumed the video would not gain many views, but the opposite happened. The original video received more than four million views, while the video in which she announced that she had been fired gained more than 14 million views.

Following the video, she went to work, where a man believed to be the manager and the shift lead asked her to sit down. The shift lead explained that they had previously spoken to her about posting videos while wearing her uniform and that she would have to be written up. This added eight points to her total, bringing it to 28. She then received another four points because she had called in previously, bringing her final total to 32 points. The limit for employees was 24 points.
He then asked her to sign a paper and clock out, officially ending her employment. The worker explained that she was planning to leave the job anyway and said she was “good.” She also asked viewers not to be angry with Chick-fil-A, explaining that the situation was her own doing.
