A woman in Indiana attempted to heat a snack late at night while everyone in her house was sleeping. She chose to place her food in a plastic container, which inevitably led to an unwanted fire and lots of smoke. Unfortunately, her microwave didn’t survive.
Preslie Stewart shared her unfortunate microwaving incident on TikTok. She is a well-known content creator who often shares a variety of content, including vlogs, unboxings, and walks. The video attached above went viral in a day. It garnered 977,500 views, 115,800 likes, and more than 850 comments.
The Indiana woman, already worried sick, recorded herself after the microwave explosion. She said, “I opened the door, smoke just came right out.” The smoke smelled weird, Preslie’s throat was hurting, her smoke detector didn’t go off, and everyone was asleep.
“Should I take the microwave outside?” Preslie asked. “Do I unplug it and take it outside? It was, like, smoking. I’m scared.”
Preslie struggled to unplug the microwave, but she eventually managed to do so. Then, she grabbed it and placed it on the floor. Once again, she carried it outside and set it down. Finally, she opened the microwave, and a cloud of smoke was immediately released. Inside, the camera showed the burnt remains of her food and the slightly melted plastic container.
In follow-up interviews, the Indiana woman said she had put her food in a Tupperware and heated it for four minutes total. She also told her audience that her microwave had to be retired early.

With her characteristic histrionism, Leslie continued to talk about her now-permanently deactivated microwave in recent clips. She called it “Microwavella” and also said that her kitchen still smells like burnt food and plastic.
