The last thing on most people’s mind when stumbling across a blood-stained object would be to touch it barehanded. However, that didn’t stop Reddit user Incurablethiccness from picking up several dollars while strolling along the shore in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While there’s no confirmation that the mysterious red stains were blood, plenty of Redditors agreed that this didn’t look like something to be handled with one’s bare hands.
The top-upvoted comment said what’s on everyone’s mind: “Why are u touching it?” Another commenter followed up with an even more expressive inquiry of the same sentiment: “Why in the name of god would you possibly touch that with your bare hands while alive on this earth?” Incurablethiccness joined the thousands of users in the comments to explain themselves with questionable reasoning.
The Myrtle Beach Resident Had Questionable Reasons for Picking Up the Red-Stained Money
“It’s free money” was OP’s initial reason they reached for the dollar bills. However, the reasons they decided it was okay to touch it are another matter entirely. “I’ve been elbow-deep in elderly diarrhea; I am not afraid of red stuff,” they wrote in response to commenters demanding to know why OP was so unfazed.
People continued to ask, so Incurablethiccness provided another answer, which was just as questionable in nature: “I dropped an egg roll on the ground in a Walmart parking lot and still ate it. I am not afraid of money with red stuff.” They went on to add that they don’t believe it’s possible to contract a blood-borne disease from touching blood with unbroken skin.
The comments were filled with people berating OP for their reasoning, though some expressed doubts that it was blood at all. Even so, unless the post was meant to be rage-bait from the start, many couldn’t believe someone would just handle bloody-looking cash like that.
In the end, Incurablethiccness claimed their theory of what the smearing actually was. “Guys, idk how to break it to you all, but I’m pretty sure it was Takis dust,” they remarked nonchalantly. Pepper seasoning smear or not, it truly takes a unique kind of mindset to touch anything, let alone money, covered in stains of red.
