A Florida woman was completely freaked out after she allegedly found what appeared to be a small bug floating in her Starbucks drink moments after she believed she had already swallowed one. The woman said she had just picked up her drink from the coffee shop and was sipping it in her car when she suddenly felt something go down her throat. Something she would later conclude was a roach.
The woman, who goes by @wooladytv on TikTok, posted a video showing her holding the bright pink drink. Inside the cup, a small dark object could be seen sitting among the ice. It is unclear what exactly the object was, but the woman claimed that she had swallowed one roach and that another was still inside her drink. That possibility horrified her.
“When I tell you, I’m gonna pass out,” the woman said, sounding panicked. “I’m gonna set up a funeral.”
She decided she wasn’t letting the matter go and drove straight back to the Starbucks where she said she had purchased the drink. Once inside, she asked for the manager and explained what had happened.
“Y’all made me just swallow a roach and there is another roach in my drink,” she told the manager before pushing the drink across the counter for them to inspect.
The manager removed the lid and used a straw to fish the dark object out of the drink. Though she seemed unsure of what the object actually was, she apologized to the woman and offered to remake her drink. However, the customer wasn’t exactly eager for round two and instead asked for a refund.
Netizens React to the Florida Starbucks Roach Incident
Many netizens reacting to the video were just as alarmed as the woman. “Bruh that’s literally disgusting,” one person wrote. Another agreed, “Should’ve returned the food too! Ain’t no way I’d eat or drink there after that.” A third urged, “Get a lawyer and go to the doctor asap.” Another remarked, “All of these restaurants are going to close down soon because nobody cares about quality control anymore.”
Some also had theories about where the alleged bug could have come from. One commenter suggested, “It was probably in the ice and they don’t clean their machines.” A few speculated that it may have come from the woman’s vehicle, though the woman denied that, claiming she had never had a roach problem and had only left the coffee shop minutes before discovering it.
Meanwhile, several people were not convinced that the mystery object was a cockroach. The order label visible on the cup identifies the drink as a strawberry açaí lemonade, which only added to viewers’ speculation that the object could have been related to one of its ingredients.
“Sure it’s a roach and not a seed from the strawberry or an Açai seed?” someone asked. Another added, “Girl it was probably the freeze dried strawberries.”
The experience has left the Florida woman furious. While recording her interaction with the shop’s manager, she stated that the video would serve as evidence if she took Starbucks to court. Whether she will actually follow through remains to be seen.
