Bethesda finally confirmed Wolfenstein 3 is being developed in an interview with Pete Hines. Following up Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus which released last year to great reviews, you can read our review here. Speaking to GameCentral, Bethesda’s vice president Pete Hines confirmed the development of a third installment.
Yeah, sure. Absolutely we’re making a Wolfenstein III. They said on stage that they’re taking a break from the larger story to do this thing. But we all have to see how that ends.
Hines also addressed the rumors of Wolfenstein II being a potential flop. When questioned Hines disregarded the idea, however, he did state sales could have been better. Additionally, Hines reiterated Bethesda’s commitment to single player experiences. Describing them as an important part of who Bethesda are.
Series developer MachineGames is currently working on the spinoff Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Set at a later date in the universe, taking place in 1980. Main stars are BJ Blazkowicz’s two children. The game will feature co-operative gameplay mechanics alongside the more traditional single-player campaign.
Wolfenstein is a first-person shooter currently published by Bethesda Softworks. World War II based video games featuring battles against the Nazis. Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus follow an alternate history. Axis forces triumphed and BJ Blazkowicz must put a stop to them. You can read our New Order review here.
Details of the third installment are unknown however we can expect to see BJ’s story wrapped up. Relief for concerned fans due to low sales reports. Youngblood releases in 2019, while the release date for Wolfenstein 3 is unknown. Hopefully, we will find out more information soon, for now, Youngblood should satisfy any Nazi killing cravings you may have.
