A New York man went on an anti-Trump rant after his car was towed during the president’s visit, making him pay a $200 fee to retrieve it.
Trump visited Syracuse, New York, on October 9, 2026, to support Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections. During the trip, he attended a rally for Bruce Blakeman, the Republican candidate for governor of New York. The visit brought heightened security measures and increased attention to the city, affecting local traffic and parking arrangements.
The man, named Messiah, was among those affected by the disruptions during Trump’s visit. He shared a video that began with him addressing the president as the “orange fat [expletive] piece of [expletive].” He held up what appeared to be a towing receipt, shaking it as he said, “This is for you.” in addition to this, he also wrote “[expletive] Donald Trump” across the video.
Messiah explained that he had woken up for work and looked out the window, where he could see his car from the top floor. When he tried to start it, he did not hear the usual sound, prompting him to go downstairs and check on it.
Once outside, Messiah realized his car was missing and he called 911. They then told him that the vehicles parked along the street had been towed because Trump was visiting the city. “Excuse the [expletive] out of me? Last time I [expletive] checked this is where I live and that’s where I park,” he said.
Messiah was then informed that his car had been taken to an impound lot. When he went to retrieve it, he was charged $200. He continued criticizing Trump over the expense. “a fat excuse of a human coming to this city, who’s a billionaire, just made me pay 200 goddamn [expletive] dollars,” he said.
Messiah then cut up the receipt he had been holding. He added that around 4,000 people were protesting outside and said he planned to join them to get his “200 dollars worth.” It remains unclear whether the towing and associated fee were legally justified under the circumstances of Trump’s visit.
Viewers Outraged Over New York Man’s Account
Many viewers expressed outrage after hearing what happened to Messiah during Trump’s visit to New York, particularly after learning that he had to pay $200 to retrieve his car. “Omg they charged???” one person wrote. Others questioned whether the towing was legal, with one commenter arguing, “With no notice? Has to be illegal.”
Other viewers continued criticizing the situation. Some questioned how people who could not afford the $200 fee would retrieve their vehicles. “My thing is what if someone didn’t have the $200?” one person asked. Another argued that Messiah should receive his money back, writing, “you should be reimbursed.” Someone else added, “And the fact that you have to pay to get it out is absolutely ridiculous.”
The incident prompted criticism of towing vehicles without prior notice. Some viewers argued that residents should be informed before parking restrictions are enforced. Others focused on the financial burden, pointing out that a $200 fee could make it difficult for people who cannot afford the unexpected expense to retrieve their cars.
