Like many other updates in Enshrouded, this 1.0 patch brings another new visitor to your base called the Ancient Researcher. Without going into spoiler territory, this new survivor is essential for using many of the new materials in Cinder’s Cradle, so finding them quickly should be your priority. If you want to locate them easily, here’s a guide to show you where to find the Ancient Researcher in Enshrouded.
Ancient Researcher Location
The first thing you’ll want to do when looking for the Ancient Researcher in Enshrouded 1.0 is to follow the main story after entering Cinder’s Vault. The quest will ask you to “Reach the Heart of Cinders,” and it will show the location of the objective on your map. If you’re already inside Cinder’s Vault, just follow the road east, and you’ll reach the aforementioned location.
Once you arrive, climb the stairs, defeat the enemies, and look at the building on the right.
You’ll have to interact with the remains to collect the Ancient Researcher’s souls, which will allow you to summon Loraine Crim at your base. If you’re having difficulty entering the room, you can double jump from the broken wall on the left side.
Once you meet the Ancient Researcher in Enshrouded, you can now summon them and see what they can craft for you, which at first is the Infusion Altar and some Archaic Lockpicks. We recommend crafting these two items as soon as you can, especially the latter, as there are many locked chests inside the new biome.
Also, to build the Infusion Altar, you will need the following items:
- Basalt x30
- Gold Dust x10
- Celestium Bars x5
- Moonstone Dust x1
- Diamond Dust x1
Some of these items are only obtainable in Cinder’s Cradle, but they shouldn’t be too hard to get if you explore some of the biome’s mining areas.
Also, remember that finding the Ancient Researcher will continue with the new story, sending you to six dungeons across the map, but that’s a topic for a different guide. In any case, we recommend dropping a Flame Altar where you found Loraine, as you’ll have to return to this location later.
