Type / to choose a blockA Texas resident claims they pulled a ‘neighbor from hell’ in the new tenant lottery and posted an appalling video on r/Apartmentliving. The post by Reddit user Wild_Eggplant9540 needs to be played with the volume turned up, as whatever this new neighbor is doing upstairs is quite audible. Sounds of stomping, singing, and possibly sliding about can be heard, though no one on Reddit can quite figure out what’s going on up there.
“I believe he was singing gospel on the Lord’s day,” Wild Eggplant joked. “This sounds more like a pagan/Halloween ritual,” wrote another user in response. “Dude is having his own personal rock concert,” a second commenter remarked. “The squeaking of your floors and ceilings while he is presumably jumping about is most reassuring,” said a third, jokingly.
This Neighbor Has Already Made Himself Known in Just 48 Hours
For context, Wild Eggplant says that it hasn’t even been a week since this new upstairs neighbor moved in. Within 48 hours, they claim the new neighbor had a wild party until midnight, failed to keep their dog from barking uncontrollably, and woke their child up by stomping around while blasting music. During the party, the noise was allegedly so loud that Wild Eggplant’s PC monitors were visibly shaking. Notably, the neighbor does not have kids.
It’s no surprise that OP feels they’re losing their mind. “I already notified the apartment, but I will not be able to push for a noise complaint unless it’s between 10 pm – 6 am,” Wild Eggplant groaned. None of their family can live in peace at home anymore and never experienced anything like this before. “It’s like this one person came in and is ruining our entire experience living here,” said OP.
While some people joked that other upstairs neighbors in the subreddit would defend such obnoxious behavior, plenty of others urged Wild Eggplant to make their complaints loud and clear. “File a noise complaint,” suggested a user, pointing out that the flooring has issues, as even the neighbor’s movement can be heard clearly. “I’d call the cops,” said another.
Wild Eggplant has yet to update the post about what they decided to do with their upstairs neighbor. That said, some Texans might find some truth in their remark: “Everything is bigger in Texas, even the noise produced by neighbors.”
